Roselle (Hibiscus sabdariffa) is a specie of hibiscus, indigenous to West Africa. The plant is used as folk medicine and its red calyces is used as a food coloring in Germany. The green leaves of this plant have a pleasant flavor and are used as spices to improve the taste of dishes. The leaves when combined with ginger and pineapple flavor, are used to prepare a healthy sweet drink in Ghana known as Sobolo without compromising its medicinal value. Our plant is rich in carbohydrates, fat, protein, Vitamins A, Vitamin C and minerals such as Calcium, Iron and Magnesium.
