Ghana’s Strong Cedi: Stability Without Relief for Exporters
The cedi’s sharp appreciation in 2025 brought headline stability, easing debt and lowering inflation. Yet exporters faced eroded competitiveness, importers struggled with weak demand, and foreign exchange inflows contracted. The strength of the currency highlighted a paradox: macroeconomic gains did not translate into relief for businesses, exposing the urgent need for structural reform.
